Georgia War Veterans Home Meets VA Standards 2003
2002
American Health Care Association Presents Georgia War Veterans Home with 2002 National Quality Award The AHCA Quality Award is an honor bestowed on AHCA-member facilities that demonstrate the application of quality improvement principles. The AHCA first recognized the Georgia War Veterans Home with a Step I award in 1998, but the honor of receiving a Step II award by the home in 2002 is truly a monumental achievement for quality. First of all, Step II applicants are evaluated based on criteria adopted from the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA). Secondly, the AHCA accepted only 17 Step 2 applications nationwide in 2002, and of those 17 applicants, only 5 received a Step 2 award. The AHCA is a federation of state health organizations, together representing nearly 12,000 non-profit and for-profit assisted living, nursing facility, residential services for persons with mental retardation and developmental disabilities, and sub-acute care providers that care for more than one million elderly and disabled individuals nationally. (See Award letter from AHCA below).
